KENNEDY, Robert J. “Bob”, 98, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019. Born in Cincinnati on October 1, 1920, to the late Francis and Mary Kennedy. He graduated from Purcell HS, class of 1938, before attending Xavier University. WWII broke out, and Bob made the decision to serve his country in the Army. Before he left, he married his love, Louise DeSalvo, in December, 1941. While stationed in numerous countries such as England, France, and Greenland, Louise and Bob welcomed their first child, Connie. Upon returning from the Army Bob began working at Eastman-Kodak as a salesman, a position he would hold for over 40 years, winning numerous awards for his contributions along the way. The family welcomed two more children Robert Jr, and John. In his free time Bob loved to dance (for hours on end), sing along with his favorite big band tunes, and spend time with his beloved grandchildren. Bob was a member of Church of the Incarnation for over 60 years, and even served in the choir for many years. He was a true jack of all trades, and his fixit skills were constantly put to good use. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his extraordinary work ethic, and for the kindness he showed to his family and everyone he met.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Louise; his 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his children, Connie Millstein, Robert (Judy) Kennedy, and John (Kimberly) Kennedy; grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Holland, Mark (Linda-Lee) Millstean, Heather (Steve) Kaiser, Melissa (Dan) Schmeing, Greg Kennedy, Daniel Kennedy, and Hana Kennedy; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, from 1-3pm, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St, Centerville 45459. A mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day at Church of the Incarnation, 55 Williamsburg Ln, Centerville, 45459, at 10:30 am. Burial in Cavalry Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Fr. Pat Sloneker of Incarnation for his care and kindness during Bob’s last right service. In addition, the family would also like to thank the numerous nurses and caring staff that took care of Bob in his final months.
