GREEN, Albert J., age 99, of Kettering passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Lincoln Park Manor. He was a long time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakwood. Al graduated from Ilion High School in New York State and received his engineering degree in 1931 from Cornell University. His first job out of college was as a surveyor for the new road leading into Lake Placid for the 1932 Olympics. Al then went with Remington Arms in Ilion, NY. He then moved to Dayton to work for NCR as a design engineer and was proud to be part of the design team for the Deeds Carillon clock mechanism. Al was also part of the group who built the original scoreboard for the Fairmont High School football stadium. He was preceded in death by his wife Gail; brother, Barrett Green and sister, Margaret Durr. Al is survived by his son, Charles (Jean) Green of Ann Arbor, MI; 2 grandchildren, Sean Green of Ann Arbor, MI and Eileen Green of Oak Park, MI; sister, Elizabeth Kelly of Kettering; 3 nieces, and 1 nephew. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering officiated by Rev. William Bumiller. Family will receive friends from 12-1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment in Woodland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
