Kolb, Albert William (Bill) Jr, age 87, of Centerville, a resident of Bethany Lutheran Village, died at Hospice of Dayton on December 30, 2017 following his struggle with Parkinsons Disease.
Survived by his wife of 29 years Margaret Griffiths Kolb, pre-deceased by his wife of 36 years Carolyn Miller Kolb, his grandson William Kolb Olson, and brother Stanley Kolb. Bill was born on July 30, 1930 in Hamilton, OH to parents, Albert and Ruth Kolb.
He graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from General Motors Institute and served in the USAF for four years. He was employed by Delco Products in manufacturing and engineering leadership roles and achieved patents for innovative design work and later earned an MBA from Xavier. In 1986, he took early retirement to care for his terminally ill wife. Not letting his analytical skills rest, he designed software applications for a variety of organizations. An avid bridge player, Bill attained his Life Master and was treasurer of the Miami Valley Bridge Assoc. for many years. Bill enjoyed traveling and planned their many trips throughout the world based upon the availability of bridge tournaments. Bill was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where he served as financial secretary.
In addition to his wife Marge, sisters Pat Amlin and Joanne Burns, Bill is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Lee Olson, Deb and Rick Dwyer, Laura and Roger Giesel, grandchildren Brandon, Claire, Rosalie, Carolyn, and three great-grandchildren Ella, Nora, and Lydia. Bill is also survived by his step-children Theresa Roach, Lori James, Steve Jung, Mark Jung, and Julie Jung, grandchildren, Sara, Dayton, Julie, and Alex, and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Austin.
The celebration of Bills life will be on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Centerville, Ohio. On Tuesday, Bills visitation is from 11-12, the worship service begins at 12 and a reception follows.
