JONES, Alice Harriet Beeman, of Dayton, died peacefully on October 16, 2015, just 2 months after marking her 100th birthday. Alice was born in northwest Ohio in the town of Prairie Depot (now Wayne, Ohio). 77 years ago she met and later married (8-30-41) the love of her life, Mason S. Jones M.D. who passed away in 2011. She was awarded the Methodist "Bookends" award for lifetime contributions to the Ohio Conference of Methodist Churches. She was a member of PEO (Chapter CK). Alice was a wife, mother, artist, poet, volunteer and an avid reader. To her family she was a driving instructor, composer, tutor, hostess, nurse, counselor, valet and a seamstress for many prom and homecoming dresses. Conversations and gatherings were joyous occasions. Her five kids, their partners and their families and a few extras live on to tell her story: Karen Summerlin of Staatsburg, NY; Alan "Chip" (Ellen Dorle) of Columbus; Cindy (Bernie) Wheeler of Dayton; Kathy Jones (Tom Muchmore) of Columbus; Laura (David) Rench of New Lebanon; six grandchildren: Jeff (Karen), Grahm (Susie), Blair (Scott), Matthew (Valerie), Leslie (Will), Kyle (Lucy); seven great-grandchildren: Erica, Meghan, Liam, Brody, Mason, Ella and Macy; and "adoptees" Karen Decker Jones, Jenny Shin, Julie Trine and Sandy Schupp. Preceded in death by her parents Wm. She is survived by a sister, Ruth May, of Columbus; sister-in-law, Gail Jones, of St. Petersburg, FL; sister-in-law, Kaz Jones, of Camus, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She often said "I've been so blessed." In her memory, take time to tell your family you love them, and give them a big hug. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00am at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45406, with Rev. Sherry Gale officiating.
