Alva A. Horner

HORNER, Alva A. (Al), age 78 of Kettering passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at his residence with his family present. Alva was a member of Church of the Ascension, the Junior Achievement Club and the Optimist Club. He was a graduate of Miami Jacobs Business College. Alva worked for the Mead Corporation for 21 years as a Systems Analyst Programmer and at NCR for 12 years as a Technical Writer. Al was a Life Member of VFW Post # 9927 and American Legion Post # 598. Alva was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Hildegard Horner and parents, Gail and Viola Horner. He is survived by his son, Norman J. (Susan) Horner of Kettering, OH, and 2 grandchildren, Norman Horner II and Robert Horner, 2 brothers; Leo of Greenville, OH and Carl Horner of______, 2 sisters; Carlene Sheets of _________and Edna _____ of _____ A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 5, 2007 at The Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr., Dayton with Fr. Chris Worland officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
