FURST, Anthony R. �Tony�, age 91 of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Tony graduated from Chaminade High School in 1936 where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1940 where he played football and was an inductee in the Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduating from college Tony played tackle for the Detroit Lions. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific. Tony was the owner and operator of Tony Furst Flowers in Dayton. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, NFL Alumni Assoc., NFL Players Assoc., and Rotary Club of Kettering. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knight�s of Columbus Council #500, as well as a member of the VFW post #9927, American Legion post #619, Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Elks Lodge #58, Dayton Agonis Club Past President (several times), Dayton NAIM Group, UD Flyers Club, Golden Flyers Club, and Milton Athletic Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou in 2000. Tony is survived by his sons, Anthony J. �Tony� Furst and his wife Carla of Grove City, OH and Michael E. Furst and his wife Debbie of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Sarah, Robert, Nicole, Zackery, Victoria and Christina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was �Larger than Life�, with a big heart, tuff love and a bundle of laughs he will be missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at St. Albert the Great Church, 3033 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, OH with Father Thomas E. Meyer officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 � 8:00 PM on Thursday Sept. 10th at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
