CROUCH, Arnold L., "Arnie", born in Toledo, March 12, 1925, passed away on January 20, 2010. A few days after his birth he was taken to Dayton which became his home. Preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Charlotte "Chotty" M., 1984. Arnie is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sue C.; son Erik L. (Christine) Crouch; daughter Terri L. (James) Ritterhoff, all of Dayton; son Jeffrey A. (Barbara) Crouch of Santa Rosa, CA; step-daughters, Jennifer Richter, of Cincinnati and Pamela (Dave) Rhodes of Barrington, IL; step-son, Gary (Lee Ann) Horton of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Grace and Sydney Crouch, Kasey Withers, Amanda Ritterhoff, Nikki (Jeff) DeHart, Erika Crouch, Andrea Apple, Jim (Paige) Richter, Kaitlyn Richter, Daniel Rhodes, and Matthew and Rebecca Horton; and great-grandson Jaron Richter. Arnie was a 1943 graduate of the former Fairview High School in Dayton and attended Miami University at Oxford, Ohio and the University of Cincinnati. During WWII he served in the European Theater of Operations with the 42nd Infantry Division, "The Rainbow". Recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict, he was posted to White Sands Proving Ground (WSPG), New Mexico, becoming involved in launching captured German V-2 rockets for research and early rocket development. In 1999 he was instrumental in the organizing of the veterans that he served with at WSPG, known as the Broomstick Scientists, and maintained a quarterly journal for them. In the business world after 9 years of service in engineering with Ledex, Inc., of Dayton, he moved into technical sales as field sales engineer in the aerospace fluid power field, to retire after 24 years from Purolator Products Co., Facet Filter Products Division. For the next 10 years he had his own independent sales organization, Daytec, before final retirement in 1995. Arnie chose to donate his body to Wright State University Medical School. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Arnie's name to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Arnie's life will be held at a later date; final resting place, David's Cemetery, Kettering, OH.
