Barbara Ann Gruenzel

GRUENZEL, Barbara Ann "Barb", age 60, of Centerville, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. Barb was born on March 4, 1956 in Filadelfia, Italy. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1974 then went to earn her Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Wright State University in 1980. Barb retired from the Kettering City School District, serving primarily at South Dale Elementary School. She attended Apex Community Church and was a member of the Noble Circle sisters, where she was very active. Barb loved her family dearly and was an inspirational ray of sunshine that touched many with her beautiful smile and spirit. She was loved dearly by all who knew her. Barb enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flower garden, walking her dogs, and hiking with her husband. She was preceded in death by her father, Giovanni Dastoli. Barb is survived by her husband of 34 years, Cary Gruenzel; children, Kristin Gruenzel and Andrew Gruenzel; mother, Francesca Dastoli of Kettering; sisters, Angela (Ron) Weidel of Englewood and Vickie (Keith) Shomper of Xenia; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 also at the funeral home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Noble Circle Project, P.O.
