Lowden, Barbara Ann (nee Weber), age 83, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2018.
Barbara was a graduate of The Ursuline Academy in Brown County, Ohio and attended the University of Dayton.
In her professional life, Barbara was a manager at the Wagon Lit Travel Agencys Centerville office and spent many years partnering with her husband, Bob, to provide custom golf and leisure vacations through their company, Golf On Tour. Barbaras love of fitness and dance also led her to be and instructor for Jackie Sorenson Aerobic Dancing.
Barbara had a passion for volunteerism which she passed to her children and grandchildren. She spent much of her talent and energy working with a variety of local charitable organizations including Dayton Childrens Hospital (CHA-CHA), The Glenmary Guild, St Josephs Orphanage and the Dayton Womens Club.
Most recently Barbara served on the Board of Catholic Social Services of Miami Valley where she was a key advocate and trusted friend. In her role on the Development Committee, she was instrumental in founding Opus Est and raising funds for the new Center for Families. She brought her love of music, fun and laughter in participating in the creation of the Jazz Party which has grown to become a signature fundraising event.
Barbaras faith was an example to all who knew her. She had a special devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus, which assured her and all of us of Gods love and mercy. Over the years Barbara was an active member at several area parishes over the including St Francis De Sales, Incarnation and St. Albert the Great.
Barbara loved spending time entertaining family and friends. She was well known as an excellent cook (mainly because she tried new recipes out on the family before serving them to friends!) She loved working in her gardens and sharing her flowers and vegetables. She was a friend to her birds and kept them well fed while constantly battling the squirrels. Barbara enjoyed many hours on the golf course and was fortunate to play all over the world.
Her favorite times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - she was truly their Darling.
Preceded in death by her parents, Paul F. and Irene Weber, brother, Richard Weber and her Aunt Lou Lenehan. Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert A. Lowden, her children Kevin (Myra) Lowden, Kimberly Muncy, Amy (John) Saletta, John (Brooke) Lowden. Her particular pride and joy were her 13 grandchildren and 7, soon to be 8 great grandchildren: Tricia (Mark) Weithofer and their children Abby and Charlie; Melissa (Thomas), Naser and their children Tommy, Emma, Max and Ella; Katie (Dustin) Kirk and baby Kirk on the way; Gordon and Maggie Lowden; Alyson (Kevin) Jack their son J.
