THIES, Beatrice, age 83, of Riverside, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Beatrice was born March 10, 1938 in Harlan, KY to the late General and Ethel (Smith) Jackson. She had a career as a bus driver for Mad River School District, retiring after 30 years of service. Though she touched many lives during that time, the lives that were most important to her were her children and grandchildren. The simplest pleasures in life brought Beatrice the greatest joy. She loved a Saturday night in with family playing euchre, playing bingo or visiting the casino with her friends and shopping; especially browsing through garage sales on warm summer days. She took great joy in traveling especially her yearly trips to Vegas and laying by the pool with her friends in Anna Maria Island. She had such a feisty, passionate spirit, with the most generous, and loving heart. Her legacy will be honored through her incredible recipes; Pepsi ham, cabbage rolls, vegetable soup and her one-of-a-kind cheese balls to name a few. She was a very hard-worker and dedicated much of her life tending to the family farm, Thies’ Pumpkin Patch.
Beatrice is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard Thies; son, Thomas Randol Karns; and sisters, Evelyn Vespie and Verda Letner. She is survived by her children, Eddie (Susie) Fox, Michael (Nora) Fife, Elizabeth (Thomas) Ginn, and Gina (Robert) Reed; step-children; grandchildren, Eddie (Jen), Matt (Kristie), Chris (Samantha), Casey (Cassie), James (Adrienne), Robert (Brandi), Thomas (Anna), Justin (Alexandra), Ashley (Tony), Samantha (Spencer), Austin (James), Andrea (Jason), and Scott (Kari); 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Cornett, and numerous nieces and nephews. “Say not in grief ’she is no more’ but in thankfulness that she was.” – Hebrew Proverb.
