NOTESTINE, Berniece Stark Burke of Chillicothe, Oh, Winter Haven, FL, and Dayton, OH died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Hospice of Dayton. She was 100 years old. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 28, 1907 to John F. and Minnie Mae Kellison Stark, she graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1926 and from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1929. She worked there as a registered nurse and supervisor of nurses. In 1938, she married Emmett J. Burke who preceded her in death in 1984. During World War II, 1942-1945, she worked at Wright Aeronautical Plant, Cincinnati. From 1946 until she retired in 1971, she worked as an industrial nurse at the Sterns and Foster Mfg. plant in Lockland, Ohio, establishing the First Aid and Medical Dept. there. In 1973, she and her husband moved to Winter Haven, Florida. In 2002, she married Delmar Notestine, of Winter Haven and Dayton Ohio, who survives. Also surviving are: a sister, Mary Magdalene S. Woods of Winter Haven, FL; nieces and nephews, Barbara S. (John) Herlihy and David M. (Catherine) Stark of Chillicothe; Jettie Stark, widow of Raymond E. Stark, of Kettering; Ann S. (Gene) McCarthy and Jack L. and Thomas J. (Marilyn) Stark of Cincinnati; Lynn J. (Michael) Funk of Salt Lake City, UT, and many great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step-children: Anita N. Coleman, Dr. Greg (Karen), Jerry, Curtis and Monica Notestine; step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers and their spouses: Irene (Roman) Gerber, Catherine (Jay) Janes, Dr. John Leo (Margaret), Raymond (Ferne) and Paul (Pearl) Stark, and John Woods. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony Geraci, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH. There will be visiting an hour before the service at the church. Internment will be at St. Margaret Cemetery, Chillicothe, on the following Monday.
