Betty Jean Bohardt

BOHARDT, Betty Jean (Nigh), born August 10, 1922, of Kettering passed away October 14, 2011 at Oak Creek Terrace. Betty lived in the Dayton area her entire life. She was married to Ed “Toots” Bohardt for 64 years. They raised four boys. She was always quick to brag about her family being her greatest accomplishment. Betty was best known for her outgoing personality, love for reading, cards, golf but most of all for her ability to remember and retell jokes. She will be remembered for the story she retold at her husband’s life celebration. The question was: What do you want people to say about you at your funeral? The punch line is, “Look, he moved.” Her personality, smile and sense of humor were her calling cards for family and friends. Mostly a “stay at home” Mom she also held several Office Manager jobs over the years at various small businesses. She and her husband were members of NCR Country Club for many years. Preceded in death by Edwin “Toots” Bohardt, husband, three brothers, one sister and daughter-in-law Connie (Mike) Bohardt. Betty is survived by children, Jim (Caren) Bohardt, of Coupeville, WA, Tom (Judy) Bohardt, of Naples, FL, Jeff (Suzanne) Bohardt, of Oakwood, OH and Mike (Bonnie) Bohardt, of Newtown, PA: grandchildren, Connie Guerrieri, Cheryl Pike, Jim Bohardt, Emily Acklin, Amanda Mooney, Kristin Sullivan, Doug Bohardt, Michelle Wolfe and Mark Wydra; and 21 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 17, 2011 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Family will receive friends after services until 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Betty was very grateful for the extra special loving care she received from son Jeff, daughter-in-law Suzanne and for the last 6 years, the wonderfully supportive staff and friends at Oak Creek Terrace.
