Bill Allen Feverston, age 92, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
Bill was born on March 20, 1932, to the late Donovan and Sylvia Feverston. A Dayton native, he enlisted in the Navy after high school. Bill served aboard many naval vessels, but was most proud of his tour of duty in the Atlantic aboard the USS Missouri.
Bill gained professional certifications that facilitated his career as a precision tool maker. He worked for many years at NCR and later at F&G Tool and Die in Moraine.
He was a regular customer of Bolser’s Hi-Boy in Kettering, where he met a young car-hop named Shirley Holden. He got the opportunity to take her out to a local football game when her would-be date had to back out. Bill and Shirley married on August 28, 1954.
A loving and devoted husband and father of four, Bill lived for his family. He built a wonderful life for them, both literally and figuratively. His love of woodworking and design enabled him to construct a vacation home for his family in the Hocking Hills area, where they would enjoy many weekends and summers. He designed and built toys and trinkets for his children, and in later years for his grandchildren. Simple and practical by nature, Bill could typically be found working on projects around the house or in the yard. He was always very handy, and enjoyed nothing more than creating things that would bring his family happiness.
In his later years, he also enjoyed travelling with Shirley. They loved going on cruises together, with Ireland and Alaska topping the list of favorite destinations. The memories Bill gave to his family will be deeply cherished among four generations.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley Feverston, along with their four children, Sharon (Dana) Bales, Steven (Diane) Feverston, Debra (Loyd) Crump, and Lori (William) Marks, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren and brothers, Jack Feverston and Gary (Patricia) Feverston. Dear friends James and Mary Lynn Mogan join the family in mourning his loss.
A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, January 30, at Routsong Funeral Home in Centerville (81 N. Main St.), with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Mourners may travel in procession to Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville for a short committal and burial following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ohio American Heart Association in Bill’s honor.
