ATHERTON, Blair Tod, age 53, of Oakwood, formerly of Kendall Park, NJ passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011.
He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering, held a Professional Engineering license, and was the owner and founder of Absolute Filtration. Blair attended David's UCC where he was a member of the choir. He also was a baseball and soccer coach and a Boy Scout leader.
Blair was an attentive, affirming husband, and a generous family man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed running, biking, reading, and playing tennis.
Preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Atherton. Blair is survived by his loving wife, Lyn Atherton; parents, Chuck and Janet Atherton; children, William and Jenny Atherton, the light of his life, along with their mother Marguerite Atherton; "bonus sons," Brock, Gabriel, and Ethan Schoenlein; sister, Karen Bridges; brothers, Mark Atherton and Brian (Dale) Atherton; nieces, Allison (Jeffrey) Seay, Sara (Jeff) Brantley, Mikaela Atherton, and Ashley Atherton; great-niece, Mayzie; and business associate, Larry (Linda) Salinas and their son Jason Salinas.
Visitation will be from 2:30-4:30PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at David's United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Road, Kettering. Memorial service will follow at 4:30, also at the church with Rev. Dr. Brian Newcomb officiating.
