Burch E. Zehner

ZEHNER, Burch E. age 93 of Kettering, OH passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1931, in Lodi, OH, to the late Burch Everett and Marguerite (McNee) Zehner. Burch graduated from Fairview High School in 1950 before attending Heidelberg College. He pursued the tool making trade, before entering the field of real estate. Burch was well known in the Dayton area as a broker, home builder, rental manager, and court approved real estate appraiser. 

Burch was a member of the Dayton Area Board of Realtors, the National Residential Appraisers Institute, and the Sons of the American Revolution. Masonry was his lifelong passion. Burch was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Past Master of Riverview Lodge 717 (now Millennium Lodge 779), where he received his sixty-year award in December. He was Past Eminent Commander of Knights Templar Grand Commandery-Ohio, Past Grand Sovereign of The Red Cross of Constantine, and an active member and past officer of numerous Masonic bodies. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” Zehner; and sister-in-law, Lynda Zehner.

Burch is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn (Miller) Zehner; sons, Burch (Ellen) and Bryan (Beverly); granddaughters, Raine (James) Williamson, Rachel (Matthew) Sunday, Brandy (Josh) Hawthorne, and Brittany (Brian) Whitten; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family, friends, and Masonic Brothers. 

A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429, with Masonic services to be held following at 6pm. A funeral service will be held at 11am the following day, Friday, January 17, 2025, also at Routsong Kettering. Burial at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Dayton Masonic Foundation – Cornerstone Campaign, 525 W. Riverview Ave. Dayton, OH 45405 in memory of Burch.
