“By” age 78, of Kettering, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. He retired from the Miami Valley News Agency, and owned and operated along with his wife, J. & B. Hallmark stores in Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Trotwood. Mr. Sweeney was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and a Deacon. He attended the University of Kentucky and Youngstown College and served in the Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron Hugh and Elna Blakley Sweeney and a sister, Barbara Kerlin. Survivors include his wife, Josephine (Smith) Sweeney whom he married on September 6, 1947; a daughter, Charlotte Catlin and husband, George of Grove City; a son, Glen Sweeney and wife, Judy Dee of Columbus; four grandchildren, Eric and Kyle Sweeney, Phillip and Alan Catlin. Memorial services will be held at the Corinth Presbyterian Church Saturday, 3:00 PM, January 22, 2005 with Rev. Thomas James officiating.
