Byron H. Sweeney

June 28, 1926 — January 18, 2005

“By” age 78, of Kettering, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. He retired from the Miami Valley News Agency, and owned and operated along with his wife, J. & B. Hallmark stores in Beavercreek, Fairborn, and Trotwood. Mr. Sweeney was a member of Corinth Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and a Deacon. He attended the University of Kentucky and Youngstown College and served in the Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron Hugh and Elna Blakley Sweeney and a sister, Barbara Kerlin. Survivors include his wife, Josephine (Smith) Sweeney whom he married on September 6, 1947; a daughter, Charlotte Catlin and husband, George of Grove City; a son, Glen Sweeney and wife, Judy Dee of Columbus; four grandchildren, Eric and Kyle Sweeney, Phillip and Alan Catlin. Memorial services will be held at the Corinth Presbyterian Church Saturday, 3:00 PM, January 22, 2005 with Rev. Thomas James officiating. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Corinth Presbyterian Church, 4269 Corinth Blvd., Dayton, OH 45410.
