age 85, of Washington Twp., died Friday, December 31, 2004. He was born in Dayton April 23, 1919. Carlton is a graduate of Otterbein College and the Episcopal Theological School of Cambridge, MA He played first trombone in the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra under Paul Katz. Carlton retired after a lifetime of ministry – 21 years as Rector at All Saints (Cincinnati), 34 years as a senior priest in the Diocese of Southern Ohio, Organizing Priest at Prince of Peace (Cincinnati), Founding Rector of St. Marks and Curate of Christ Church (Dayton). Carlton was a recipient of the Charles P. Taft Ecumenical Service Award in 1986. Preceded in death by his former wife, Ruth Elizabeth (Greene) Gamble. Survived by their 2 daughters, Emily Childress of Rapid City, SD, and Elizabeth Gamble of Cape Canaveral, FL; 2 grandchildren, Abby and Erin Childress; and by his wife of 12 years, Anne (Weimer) Gamble.; Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, at Christ Church, 20 W. First Street, Dayton, with The Rt. Rev. Kenneth Price, Celebrant and The Rev. Canon Gordon Price assisting. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
