Carmella Pestella Padgett

PADGETT, Carmella, "Carm" (Pestella), age 84 of Centerville, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010. She graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1944 and received her Nursing Degree from Miami Valley School of Nursing in 1947. Carm was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who was very caring and giving to her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, W. Howard Padgett, Jr. and her sister, Lena Pestella. Carm is survived by her sister, Violet Pestella; sons, John Padgett and his wife Terri and Mark Padgett and his wife Laura; and grandchildren, Adam, Erica, Kyle and Shelby. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM. Burial to follow in David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. A Letter by Erica Padgett (granddaughter) It's so hard to put this in writing to explain the great person my Grandma Carm is. I know we are all sad that we lost her because of how sweet, kind, and caring she was to all of us. My parents always tell me the story about when I came home from the hospital and Grandma Carm got to see me for the first time. The happiness she had for the birth of her first grandchild. Then came Kyle and Shelby and she was just as proud and delighted as she could be. Grandma Carm lived her life for us grandkids and her children. I want to share one of my favorite memories I have from Kyle and I with Grandma Carm and Aunt Vi. They always would come to Cincinnati to babysit us. They were upstairs making dinner and Kyle and I were playing downstairs. We had a ball pit in our basement. We thought it would be such a great idea to dump the balls out (because Mom and Dad would never let us do this) and fill the ball-pit up with water. It was so cool we had our own swimming pool in the basement of our house! Grandma and Aunt Vi just smiled and thought it was cute. I could never figure out why my parents came home so mad. Grandma was the coolest! The days I always remember with Grandma Carm is going over to her house with Kyle and Shelby and playing with the ball in her backyard. Our favorite restaurant with Grandma Carm is J.Alexanders. We always loved having her coming to our house to spend the night. Grandma Carm was such an incredible sweet woman. She was the best Grandma anyone could ask for! I am so lucky she was my Grandma. I will always cherish my memories I have of her. In my room I have gorgeous dolls that she bought for me. I will keep them for the rest of my life to remember my awesome Grandma."
