CLAY, COL US ARMY (Ret), Carmon Lavon, age 93, of Miamisburg passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. Carmon was born in Montpelier, OH, Jan. 2, 1915, son of Andrew C. Clay and Ida L. Clay. He was a graduate of Montpelier High School, The Ohio State University and held a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois in Electrical Engineering. During World War II he served as Division Signal Officer of the 1st Armored Division in North Africa, with the 2nd Armored Division in Sicily, England, France and Germany and Headquarters 6th Corps. At the end of the war he chose to stay in the Army with assignment to the Army Ground Forces Headquarters in Washington, D.C. After graduating from the U.S. Army War College of Carlisle, PA, he served with the Army Far East Headquarters in Japan and later with the U.S. Joint Headquarters in Paris, France. He retired from the U.S. Army Materiel Command of Washington, D.C. in January 1967. After retirement he was employed by Lockheed Electronics at Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nellie M. Clay; daughter, Candis C. Krisher of Miamisburg, Ohio; son, Cary S. Clay of Greenwood, AR; six grandchildren, five great grandsons, one brother, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, OH. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, OH 45459.
