DITZEL, Carolyn B., age 76, of Kettering, passed away Friday, November 24, 2006, at Hospice of Dayton. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lucien and Pearl Burke and her beloved husband of 46 years, Don in 2001. Survived by 3 beloved and very special children, Krista (Jack) Miller of Spring Valley, OH, Kay (Greg) Castignola and their son, Dave of Dublin, OH, and son, David (Jill) Ditzel and their children Reagan and Adam of Lakeside Park, KY; and by her much loved companion, Nikki her cat. Carolyn was born and raised in Springfield OH, June 2, 1930. She was a 1952 graduate of Wittenberg University, Springfield, taught at Heifer Jr. High for 2 years after graduation. After her marriage to her husband, Don, they moved to Kettering, OH where she taught 2nd grade at J.R. Prass elementary for 29 years. Carolyn led an enriched life with the joy of family and friends and pets, home and a satisfying career. Her faith, sense of humor, optimistic attitude and closeness of family, gave her much happiness and contentment. Carolyn was fun loving and enthusiastic about life in general and faced up to life’s ups and downs with faith, hope and confidence. Carolyn loved sports, enjoyed family time, and watching her children and grandchildren excel in their studies and personal endeavors. She loved reading, education, gardening, and comedy. Carolyn was a member of the Kettering Noon Optimist Club, P.E.O. Chapter Z of Kettering, a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, volunteered with her husband Don at Miami Valley Hospital and was a member of the CCL (child conservation league). Remember, I love you and will miss you always. I will always be close by. Memorial services will be held December 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, with Pastor Victoria Downing officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
