Carolyn C. Smith

SMITH, Carolyn C., age 78, of Centerville, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 17, 1935 in Middletown, OH to the late Vance and Josephine Cribbs. Carolyn graduated from Middletown High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Otterbein University in Westerville. She taught Music and Kindergarten until her retirement in 1993. Carolyn was a member of Normandy United Methodist Church where she helped with the church Bazaar and sang in the choir for many years. She was a very musical, and creative person who enjoyed spending time in her garden. Carolyn also enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, Harvey. She was a member of the Otterbein Women's Club, Delta Omicron Music Sorority as well as Sigma Alpha Tau Sorority. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her cousin, Evangeline Lee. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Harvey; son, Stephen P. Smith; daughter, Robbyn E. Smith; and grandchildren, Blair, Shelby, and Kendall. The family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Alex-Bell Rd., Centerville, OH 45459 with a memorial service at 11:00am, a reception and luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn's name may be made to the Normandy United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741. The family would like to thank their Normandy Church Community for all their care and support, especially Jim and Janet Black and Kathy Zamonski.
