MLINAC, Carolyn Rose, 65 of Kettering finally won her 17 year struggle with cancer and was rewarded by being called to eternal life with God. She died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Carolyn was born in Charleston, West Virginia on February 3, 1943 to the late Rose (Henson) and Carl E. Bohnert. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Thomas J. Mlinac; daughters, Denise Marie (Lt. Col. Christopher) Miller of Las Cruces, NM , Jill Elizabeth (William) Krause of Springboro, OH; grandchildren, Alexander, Benjamin and Emily Miller and Cameron Krause; brothers, Dr. Phillip (Elsha) Bohnert of Honolulu, HI and Charles Bohnert of Denver, CO; nieces, nephews and many loving, caring friends. She received both her Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Dayton, taught elementary school in the Beavercreek school system; worked as an instructor and counselor for the Diet Workshop, and was self-employed giving workshops on codependency, laughter, and play. Carolyn was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Master Gardeners of Greene County, "Charlie Brown Support Group", her "Church Ladies," "Bible Bells," "Jubilee," and "First Wives' Club" groups. Carolyn presided over the 1964 West Virginia State Forest Festival as Queen Silvia XXVIII. Carolyn brought joy to everyone she knew. She wanted to tell family and friends, "Thank you for being a part of my life. Your joy has set me free." Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville with Fr. Tom Schmidt presiding. Family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2008 from 5-7:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering and from 10:00-11:00 am at the church prior to the funeral mass. Donations in memory of Carolyn may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish Legacy Fund, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45440, Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420 or plant a flower in memory of her.
