Catherine Shroyer Smith

SMITH, Catherine Shroyer, age 91, of Oakwood, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Saturday, June 22, 2002. She was born on July 4, 1910 at the Long Romspert Homestead. Catherine graduated Oakwood High School, attended Ward-Belmont School in Nashville and graduated Ohio Weslyan University. She was a member of the Dayton Country Club, Troy Country Club, Zion Lutheran Church of Tipp City, Chi Omega, Camp Fire Girls Board of Miami County, American Cancer Society Board of Miami County, and the Women's Civic Club of Tipp City. Preceded in death by husband, Maynard C. Kiser, M.D. of Tipp City; second husband, Corwin A. Smith M.D. of Oakwood; parents, Guy T. and Maude Shroyer of Oakwood; sister, Charlotte Myers of Celina. Catherine was awarded the Oakwood Super Senior Citizen of the Year Award in 1991 by the Oakwood Historical Society. Survived by son, Douglas R. (Martha) Kiser; daughter, Carole (Richard) McLaughlin; step brother, Corwin M. Smith, MD; grandchildren, Douglas (Shawn) Kiser, Jr.; Stephen Kiser; Karen (Michael) Podiak; Catherine Kiser; Debra (David) Weaver; and Brian (Meaghan) McLaughlin; along with eleven great-grandchildren; special friend, Johnnie Rowland. Funeral services will be held at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Dayton, Tuesday, June 25, at 11:00 AM . Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10-11:00 AM. Entombment in Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Hospice of Dayton, P.O. Box 3509, Dayton, OH 45401-3509.
