GEBHARDT, Charles H., age 89 of Bethany Lutheran Village died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was a graduate of Duquesne University (cum laude), received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and was a C.P.A. He was a retired Vice President of Tax and Government Affairs of Mead Corporation, served as national president of Tax Executives Institute and on boards and committees of business, professional and civic groups. He served in WWII for five years, in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Europe being discharged with the rank of Major. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, served the Lutheran Church throughout his life as a trustee and on committees; trustee and committee person of Lutheran Social Services, and of Suomi College, Hancock, MI where he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Amada Gebhardt. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Lucille Gebhardt. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, at 11:00 AM at the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Friends will be greeted one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum.
