BRITAIN, Charles J., age 87, of Kettering, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. Charles was born in Ripley, Ohio on December 4, 1922 and was the son of Charles and Pearl Britain who are both deceased. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a member of Battery �D� 481 at Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion for 3 yrs. His Battalion went on to Omaha Beach on D-Day 2. During WWII he was the Foreman of Screwmaking Dept. #1 at the NCR Corp. He retired after 37 � yrs, and then worked at Mosher Machine & Tool Co. He later became a Duplicate Bridge Director at the Miami Valley Bridge Center and Hithergreen Senior Center for about 23 yrs. He was a member of Alpha Lodge # 729, F&AM for 60 yrs, Mt. Moriah Chapter #230, R.A.M., York Rite, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton and the Shrine. He has been a member of David�s United Church of Christ since June 16, 1957. Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne; daughter Carolyn Sue Zangri and son-in-law Robert of Centerville; granddaughter Lisa Marie Day and husband Clinton; grandson Matthew Charles Zangri. Also deceased are his brother, Russell Britain and sister Nancy Yochum. The family will receive friends at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering from 2:00-4:00PM on Sunday, September 12, 2010 with Masonic Services at 4PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 13 at 11:00AM at David�s United Church of Christ, 170 W. David Rd., Kettering.
