Charles P. Harbottle

April 2, 1917 — December 1, 2011

HARBOTTLE, Charles P., passed away December 1, 2011 in Naperville, Illinois at the age of 94. A lifelong resident of Dayton, he was a graduate of Steele High School and DePauw University, where he was awarded a full tuition Rector Scholarship and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Theta Pi. After completing a Master of Arts in Business Education at Columbia University he entered the US Army and returned to Dayton in 1945 to succeed his father as President of Miami-Jacobs Junior College of Business and then as Chairman of the Board, retiring in 1991. Mr. Harbottle devoted a great part of his life to service in Dayton, as President of the Dayton Rotary Club and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Board, as a Trustee of the Children's Medical Center, and as a member of the Oakwood and Miami Valley Regional Planning Commissions for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, and is survived by his three children: John Harbottle of Leland, Michigan, David Harbottle of Scottsdale, Arizona and Nancy Liley of Naperville, Illinois, and by two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton Rotary Club or Grace United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 4:30PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, OH with Rev. Bryan Palmer-Smith officiating.
