Charles Stamas

STAMAS, Charles age 86, of Dayton passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Minneapolis, MN. Graduated from Central High School and served in the US Navy during WWII. Charles was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and retired as an Industrial Lighting Consultant from Heidt Electric Company. He was an accomplished musician and violinist, an avid fisherman and enjoyed the stock market. Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Weimer; parents, Steve and Mary Stamas; sisters, Antonia Anagnos, Eva Seibert and Elizabeth Gaylor and brother, John Stamas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cleopatra; daughter, Photini (Alex) Fote of Washington Township and their children, Thomas, Charles and Christopher; son, Steve (Debbie) Stamas of Centerville and their children, Lisa, Tricia, Charles, Heather, Hollie and Terry; son, Nick C. Stamas of Dayton and his daughter Emily; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nick (Maxine) Stamas of Akron and Peter Stamas of Dayton; sisters, Emilie Hounshell of Dayton and Mary Tapp of Columbus; son-in-law, James Weimer of Centerville and his children, Elaine and Erica and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton with Father Mark Emroll officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Trisagion Prayers at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter, The Laurelwood, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Suite 100 Dayton, OH 45449. A special thanks to his dedicated caregivers, Eileen, Tracy, Nancy and Theresa. Also a special thank you to the Laurel Kerr of the Alzheimer’s Association.
