age 80 of Kettering, passed away on Thur., December 7, 2000 at Bethany Lutheran Village. He was an Army veteran of WWII who served in the European Theater. Charles retired from Chrysler Airtemp after 20 years. He was a member of the New Apostolic Church and VFW Post 2800. Preceded in death by his wife, Lottie; a stepson, Lothar Hauptstueck; and a brother, Elbert Sparks. Survived by a daughter Charlene Wynne and husband Kerry of Kettering; a stepson, Fred Hauptstueck and wife Carol of Centerville, IN; 2 brothers, Fred Sparks and wife Hildreth of Dayton and Robert Sparks and wife Rushia of Beavercreek; 3 sisters, Thelma Plefrey of Centerville, Lida Day and husband Chester of Columbus, and Lillian Slone and husband Lee of Moorehead, KY; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Hauptstueck; a sister-in-law, Hazel Sparks; 2 grandsons; 13 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 16 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the New Apostolic Church, 1444 Darst Ave., Dayton with Rev. Michael L. Taylor officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-5:00 P.M., Sunday, in the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. If desired, contributions may be made to your charity of choice.
