Christine Bowden Harris

HARRIS, Christine Bowden age 48 of Kettering was born June 3, 1954. She passed away January 20, 2003 at her residence after a courageous 21 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Christine lived her life with amazing energy. She is a 1972 graduate of Fairmont West High School and Heidelberg College in 1976, taught junior high music in Tiffin, OH and Hebron, CT, directed numerous choral groups including Sweet Adelines, was an accomplished musician and athlete and was recently inducted into her university Athletic Hall of Fame as one of the pioneers of women's athletics. In spite of her illness, she reared her daughter, Elizabeth, passing on her zest for life and strengths in music, athletics, academics and faith. Preceded in death by her father, John R. Bowden in 1982. Survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Lyn Harris; mother and ever-loving caregiver Marguerite Lane Bowden; brothers and sisters, Joe (Kaaran) Bowden, Charlane (Sunny Aldridge) Bowden, Jim (Carol) Bowden, Rich (Karan) Bowden and Cynthia (Lance) Stafford; nieces and nephews, Jaacob Bowden, Aeron Bowden, Brooks Bowden, Shallon Bowden, Blake Bowden, Blair Bowden, Angela Leslie, Nick (Leslie) Andrews, David Bowden and Erica Christine Bowden; great nieces and nephews, Sean, Ashton and Kristyn Andrews. Extended family includes the Joe and Jerry Lane family, the Bob and Charlotte Flickinger family, Norma and Archie Harris, Vance Harris and ever faithful friends and caregivers from Fairmont Church, Fairhaven Church, Sweet Adelines, Heidelberg College, Fairmont West High School and Assured Healthcare. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 3:00 PM at Fairhaven Church with Pastor Steven Julian officiating. Burial in Kerr Cemetery, Mineral Ridge, OH. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
