Christine Ann Kane

March 14, 1938 — October 21, 2023

Kettering

KANE, Christine A., age 85, of Kettering, OH, formerly of Columbus, OH, went to be with her husband, Michael, on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born on March 14, 1938 to the late Leo and Mary Magdalene Schaefer, in Narragansett, RI. Christine's family returned to the Dayton area when she was young, where she grew up and flourished with her brothers, and her sister.

After graduating from Fairmont High School, the class of 1956, Christine embarked on a journey that would forever define her life. It was during this time that she crossed paths with the love of her life, Michael Kane. Their connection grew deep and profound, and they exchanged vows of eternal love on October 3, 1959. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Christine's primary focus and greatest joy in life was her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her five children, providing them with endless love and unwavering support. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense happiness and pride to her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Christine's legacy of love will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.

Christine was gifted with a creative spirit and pursued various artistic endeavors throughout her life. She had a keen eye for photography and a passion for sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking. Her talents were admired by all who had the pleasure of witnessing her creations. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Christine possessed a deep love for literature and eagerly shared her passion for reading with family and friends.

In 1967, Christine and her family moved to Columbus, OH. It was here that Christine and Michael built a life for themselves and their 5 children.  It was with love, kindness and guidance that they raised their boisterous children to adulthood. Even after her beloved husband passed, she remained steadfast and true to their vision for their future, eventually sharing those same values with the next generations.

While in Columbus, Christine formed lifelong bonds with a dedicated group of friends affectionately known as "The Girls”. Together, they shared countless cherished memories, engaging in activities such as bowling, crafting, playing games, and hosting delightful, themed parties that brought laughter and happiness to all who attended.

Guided by her Catholic faith, Christine was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic parish, a charter member of Ascension Catholic Church and St. Phillip the Apostle Church.

In an effort to be closer to family and friends she returned to the Kettering area in 2018.  During her last 5 years as she continued to pursue her passions, she met many physical struggles.  She was blessed with strong support from family and the amazing people at Davita Kettering.  It was with strength and perseverance she met her daily challenges.  It was with this same strength that she went to be with Michael.

Although all of her family and friends miss her already, we will honor her by continuing to follow her lifelong example.

Christine is preceded by her husband, Michael; her parents; brother, Paul Schaefer; stepmother, Mary Schaefer; and in-laws, John and Stella Kane.
