Clayton T. Rammler

October 15, 1917 — March 6, 2006

RAMMLER, Clayton, T., Minister, United Church of Christ, age 88, of Kettering passed away, Monday, March 6, 2006 at Patriot Ridge United Church Community in Fairborn. Clayton was a graduate of Ludlow High School in Ludlow, KY. and Mission House, Lakeland College Seminary, Sheboygan, WI from which he received his Doctor of Divinity. After seminary graduation in 1943, Clayton enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Chaplain in the Pacific Theater. In 1945 he accepted a call to ministry at David’s Evangelical and Reformed Church (United Church of Christ) in the then Van Buren Twp. (now Kettering) where he served until elected in 1963, as the first Association Minister of the Southwest Ohio Northern Kentucky Association of the newly formed United Church of Christ. He was continually re-elected to the position until his retirement in 1982. Clayton’s many hobbies included jewelry and candle making, fishing, gardening, canoeing and especially his family. He was inducted into the Lakeland College Sports Hall of Fame. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Clara Rammler. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia Rammler; daughter, Ann (Mike) Armato; son, David (Suzanne Young) Rammler; grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Armato, Suzanne (Michael) Beckner, and twins, Bryce and Alec Rammler-Young; great grandson, Anthony Beckner; and sisters, Clara Schrorer and Louise Gavin. A memorial service will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Oak Creek United Church of Christ, 5280 Bigger Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Todd Yonkman and Nicole Grant Yonkman officiating. In memory of Clayton, contributions may be made to the Rammler Family Endowment Fund, @ Trinity United Church Community, 3218 Indian Ripple Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45440.
