Clifford Bernard Thorstenson

THORSTENSON, Clifford Cliff B., age 55, of Centerville, OH passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Cliff was born on May 22, 1963 in Hartford, CT, to Clifford and Ann (nee Lindsey) Thorstenson. An Eagle Scout, he graduated from Enfield HS (CT) in 1981. He was a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in 1985 with a B.S. in astronautical engineering. Cliff went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years in logistics and engineering. While doing so, he graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1994 with a M.S. in software systems management. Cliff was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #14995, and was awarded their Volunteer of the Year award in 2013. He was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, and frequently volunteered within the church community. Cliff was the consummate family man, and was happiest with his family, or helping someone in need. He was continually involved with his children and their activities while at St. Charles and Alter HS. Cliff coached CYO sports for many years and enjoyed fundraising for both schools. He loved to garden and took great pride in his yard, receiving awards from the city of Centerville for his efforts. Cliff enjoyed sports, including golf, ultimate frisbee, horseback riding, and bowling; and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan. Cliff had a warm, fun-loving personality, full of humor, and frequently teased the ones he loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Diana (nee Howard); children, Cliff and Grace; parents, Cliff and Ann; sisters, Laura (Skip) Odiorne and Christine (Stephen) Tkacz; nieces, Helena and Cayley Tkacz and numerous friends and extended family. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the St. Charles community and close friends for all of their support. The family will greet guests from 2-5pm on Sunday June 24th at Routsong Funeral Home 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Monday, June 25th at St. Charles Borromeo Church 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, OH 45429. Private inurnment at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Charles School, 4600 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, OH 45429 in memory of Cliff.
