LOOMIS, Clyde E, age 87, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Kettering Medical Center. He was a member of Normandy United Methodist Church and a former member of David's United Church of Christ. Clyde retired as superintendent of manufacturing at Delco Moraine Division of General Motors. He was a man of many interests including a builder of fine homes and owner of Loomis Insurance Agency. As a younger man, he was active in competitive sports and was a state horseshoe pitching champion. Clyde was a great lover of music - he played the saxophone and the organ. His favorite hobbies were woodworking and golf. He even received a “Hole-In-One” certificate from his condominium association in Clearwater, FL. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Sarah Loomis; son, Michael Loomis; and sister, Vera Doughty. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Neva; 2 sons, David and his wife, Nancy Loomis and Marvin and his wife, Roni Loomis; granddaughters, Beth Kugelman and Julie and her husband, Bill Chamberlain; great granddaughters, Kate and Susan Kugelman and Alexandria Chamberlain; nephew, Clyde; and niece, Sarah Lynn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5, 2003 at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Alex-Bell Rd., Centerville with Rev. Tom Harry officiating. Entombment in David's Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
