Colonel Robert "Bob" L. Eigel, Sr.

EIGEL, Colonel Robert L. Sr., age 81, died April 11, 2018 at his home in Centerville, OH. Bob was born on January 10, 1937 in St. Louis, MO. to Dr. Edwin and Catherine (Rohan) Eigel. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edwin Jr., Thomas, James, William, and John and sister, Kay Fuhrman. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Charlotte, of 49 years; daughters, Karen (Alan) Holden of McKinney, TX and Deborah (Todd) Steele of Centerville, OH; sons, Lt Col Robert Jr. (Chrissy) of Springboro, OH and William (Amanda) of St. Louis, MO. He has eight beloved grandchildren (Tyler, Dani, Alex, Abbe, Nicole, Kevin, Joseph, and Lisa) and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Bob earned his bachelor's degree from St. Louis University (1959) and master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (1968). He served honorably in the United States Air Force as a command pilot for twenty-three years, including tours in Vietnam during 1968 and 1969. Bobs decorations include the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officers Association of America.After retiring from the Air Force, he joined Cincinnati Electronics Corporation as a program manager. Bob went on to become a senior executive with RJO Enterprises and International Consultants Incorporated. He completed his business career as a consultant. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5-8pm on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave. Centerville, OH, 45459, on April 21, 2018 at 10:30am. Inurnment will be at a later date.
