Connie Jane Martin, age 89, of Dublin, Ohio (formerly of Centerville and Englewood), passed away on January 23, 2025. Born on December 5, 1935 in Stanford, Kentucky, Connie moved to Ohio shortly after birth where she was raised by her paternal grandparents following her mother’s passing when Connie was just 16 months old.
Connie was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School and Capital University. She worked for the Combined Health District of Montgomery County for more than 30 years where she was Supervisor, Data Processing and oversaw the installation of their first computer system. She was always excited to talk about being one of the early women in computer programming.
An avid card player, Connie loved the game of Bridge and was an active member of several card clubs throughout her life. She also enjoyed learning about art and art history and was an active volunteer at the Dayton Art Institute as a Docent for several years after she retired. In addition, Connie dedicated countless hours to researching her family history, traveling near and far to libraries and archives to uncover her genealogy, a pursuit that brought her much joy. Connie loved to entertain friends and family and was a gracious hostess for many gatherings in her home. Connie was an avid Elvis Presley fan and often spoke about meeting him while attending his concert as a teenager. Connie also enjoyed traveling, attending performing arts events, getting together with friends and family, tailgating at Ohio State football games, reading, shopping at Talbots, and attending her grandchildren’s many school and sporting activities.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Martin; sons, Kevin (Cathy) Martin and Eric (Darlene) Martin; and six grandchildren, Caitlyn (Matt) Gutierrez, Christopher (Melisa Metin) Martin, Kyle Martin, Alexandra Martin, Andrew Martin, and Victoria Martin; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin; her parents, Wesley Ray Dailey and Ada Florence (Gaffney) Dailey; stepmother, Ruth (Hartman) Daily; paternal grandparents, John “Danny” and Vella Dailey; and maternal grandparents, Harrison and Mary Francis (Chadwell) Gaffney.
A woman of warmth, generosity, intellect, and determination, Connie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed.
