SHAWEN, Constance L. Staarmann, age 81 of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Dayton, OH on June 12, 1931 to the late Frank and Marie Staarmann. Connie was a 1949 graduate of Julienne High School.
Preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marilyn Carder; and great-grandsons Ethan and Landon. Connie is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 62 yrs, Harley (Jim) Shawen. She also leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Mike (Deb) of Sugarcreek Twp., David (Amy) of Bolingbrook, IL, and Gregg (Sheila) of Kettering; daughter, Patti of Miami Twp.; her much loved grandchildren, Trevor (Mariah), Derek (Kari), Preston (Amber), Chelsea (Mitch) Schlagbaum, Cooper, Nathan, Dayton and Oliver; great-grandchildren, Allison and Bentley; and three nephews, a niece and one cousin.
As snow birds in their retirement, Connie and Jim spent 22 yrs at their winter residence at SWMHP in Sarasota, FL, and would like to acknowledge their extended family of loving and compassionate friends. Connie's legacy will be her constant devotion and enduring love for her husband, family and friends.
Family will greet friends on Friday, March 15 from 4:00-7:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Moore Officiating. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Special Wish Foundation, www.aspecialwish.org/, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
