It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Craig B. Willis, beloved husband, son, father, and “Papaw”, who departed from this world on December 12, 2023 Craig was born on August 13, 1948, in Hamilton, Ohio, to his late devoted parents, Wilburn and Patricia Willis.
Craig spent the majority of his life in Centerville, Ohio, where he attended Centerville High School, graduating with the class of 1966. He furthered his education at The University of Dayton where he earned his B.A. in Business Management in 1978. After his education, Craig embarked on a successful career as a computer salesman in the tech industry, showcasing his passion for technology and forging connections with his clients. In later years he enjoyed his job at Ace Hardware in Centerville where he made many friends and helped numerous people with multiple projects.
It is impossible to mention Craig without acknowledging his deep love for all things mechanical. Whether it was fixing up his beloved 1963 Chevy Impala or riding his Harley alongside his family, Craig found immense joy in working on engines and exploring the open road. He relished the thrill of motorcycle trips to Sturgis and Bike Week in Daytona, creating unforgettable memories and sharing laughter with his loved ones.
When he wasn't tinkering with engines or embracing the freedom of the road, Craig delighted in attending car shows on weekends, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts. His genuine passion for classic cars was contagious, and he enjoyed sharing stories and experiences with anyone who would listen.
In 1970, Craig met the love of his life, Penni Willis, and their journey of love and companionship lasted for an incredible 52 years. Their unbreakable bond was the foundation of their beautiful family. Craig cherished his role as a husband and father, always wholeheartedly devoted to his family's happiness. Time spent with his grandsons brought him immense joy and laughter, as he created lasting memories with the youngest members of his cherished family.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Penni (nee Marlow) Willis; children, Chad Willis and Valeri (Waverly) Judd; grandchildren, Gage Willis and Loki Judd; brother, K. Monte Willis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Craig’s family would like to thank the staff of Miami Valley Hospital South and Crossroad’s Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Craig.
To honor Craig's life and legacy, a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Routsong Funeral Home, located at 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459. Prior to the service, a Visitation will be held at the same location, starting at 12:30 pm, for family and friends to offer their condolences and share their fondest memories of Craig.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The American Cancer Society.
Craig Braxton Willis will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, dedication, and passion for life. His spirit and legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
