EDGAR, Cynthia “Cindy” A., age 52, of Bellbrook, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 24 1953 in Cincinnati, Daughter of Eloise and William Remar. Cindy graduated from Oak Hills High School, Cincinnati. Cindy earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in secondary math and special education. She had a master’s degree from Wright State University in school counseling. Cindy taught math for two years at Weisenborn Jr. High School, Huber Heights, Ohio. She was with Centerville City Schools for 20 years teaching at Watts Middle School, Centerville High School, and most recently Magsig Middle School. Cindy was involved with the Connected Math Professional Development at The Ohio State University. She was trained at OSU and then went on to in- service other math teachers. She conducted summer workshops for the Montgomery County Board of Education training middle grade math teachers. She worked for the publisher Prentice Hall and trained math teachers in many districts across Ohio. As an independent consultant, Cindy was invited to be a workshop trainer for districts in several other states. Cindy was a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, later becoming board member for OCTM. She belonged to the Wright State University Area Chapter of Teachers of Mathematics, achieving presidency and chairing the fall 2003 convention. Most recently she was OMAP coach for the Ohio Mathematics Academy Program. In 2000, Cindy was the first Centerville City School teacher to achieve National Board Certification. She was a master teacher in Early Adolescence Math. Cindy was nominee for Centerville “Teacher of the Year” in 2005. Cindy modeled locally over the years and taught at Sharkey Modeling School. She was a tennis coach while at Centerville High School and was an active member of the 5 Seasons C.C.. In addition to being an accomplished teacher, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a good friend to many. She was preceded in death by her father, William C. Remar; and her brother, Jamie Remar. Surviving is her loving husband, John Edgar; her mother, Eloise Remar; children, Paul Moody of Centerville, OH, Allison Moody of Columbus, OH and Megan Edgar of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Angelina and Sophia Tatman; and nieces, Alexandria and Jordan Remar. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville. Internment at Centerville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-9:00 PM on Friday at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, OH 45420 or The Oak Tree Corner, 2312 Far Hills Ave. PMB 108 Dayton, Ohio 45419.
