Cynthia Ann Nickell (Stertzbach), age 72, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Kettering Medical Center after her brave 4-year battle with cancer. Cindy was born on March 8, 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron John and Arlene (Peterson) Stertzbach. Cindy was born in Canton, Ohio and graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering in 1964. Then she remained in the Centerville area during her adult life. Cindy enjoyed working as an office manager for Remax Alliance in Centerville for 21 years. She was an avid golfer and a member of Sugar Valley Country Club. She was very social and enjoyed her many friends. She spent her vacations at her favorite beach, Siesta Key! She loved Wheel of Fortune so much that she spent her last night solving the puzzles in between naps. Cindy had a big heart and was a well-dressed, classy lady who wore the biggest smile.
She will be missed by many friends and her family who loved her dearly. Cindy has one brother, Timothy Jay (Karen) Stertzbach and was preceded in death by her step-nephew, Rusty Jay Hall. Cindy has one son, John Edward Mount Jr. (Michele), her grandchildren -Tyler (23), Sydney (19) and step-granddaughter, Mallory Kaplan (26). Cindy was married to and had many laughs with her loving husband, David Alan Nickell whom she met in 2003. Her stepchildren, George, Emily (Mark) Vanderputten and their child Pietra (10) of Cincinnati, Angie (Anthony) Holzberg from Oakwood and their children Helen Souder (17) Lewis (11), Leo (10), and George (5). Cindy enjoyed a close relationship with her former husband’s children whom she helped raise; Stepchildren, Scott (Julie) Langer from Centerville along with their children, Jack (24) and Cameron (23), Holly Langer, from West Palm Beach, Florida, and her children Brandon Ellis (33), his son, Shawn Young (12), Brittany Carmichael (30) and her son Devin (1), Tony (Leigh) Langer from Missouri and his children, Anthony (30), his daughter Avery (5), Jake (22) and Joseph (26).
Cindy’s visitation will be held at Routsong Funeral Home located at 2100 E Stroop Road in Kettering on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 12:00-2:00pm. A Graveside service will follow at David’s Cemetery.
