Daniel Halliden of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1940 in Newmarket, Co. Cork, Ireland, to William and Abina O’Sullivan Halliden, Daniel immigrated to the United States in 1960. He spent many cherished years in Colts Neck, New Jersey, before moving to Ohio in 2004 to be closer to his family.
A master carpenter by trade, Daniel retired in 1984, dedicating his time to the things he loved most: family, fishing, hunting, golfing, and creating beautiful stained-glass art. He was known for his dry sense of humor and his keen interest in world news, always staying informed and ready with a witty remark.
Daniel had a deep love for his family and was always there to help take care of his grandchildren, creating lasting memories with Jessica, William, Teddy, and Aisling Halliden, and Christopher and Bridget (Jace McClain) Anderson. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Bridget McMahon Halliden, his son Dennis (Kristen), his daughter Maureen (Chris) Anderson, his son Brian, and his siblings Christina (Jimmy) Kealy, Kathleen (Pat) McGuinness, and John (Joan) Halliden. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews across the United States, Ireland, Belgium, and the UAE, along with the extended members of the O’Sullivan and McMahon families.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Aaron Hanshaw and his team for their compassionate care over the years. A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland, at www.thedonkeysanctuaryireland.ie.
