Daryan John Mostashfi

Mostashfi, Daryan John, age 18, of Centerville, OH, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born in Dayton, OH on March 29, 2005 to Shervin Mostashfi and Kimberly Ritterhoff. Daryan graduated from Centerville High School, class of 2023, before continuing his education at The University of Dayton. He was a swimmer for the WTRC Sharks, Centerville High School varsity swim team, and Oak Creek swim club. Daryan was especially proud to be working on earning his pilot's license, and flew multiple planes before he even learned to drive a car. He was a curious young man, with many interests and passions. Daryan loved being out in nature, always going off trail and photographing the world around him. He learned to program computers, designed and created several games and was also musically talented, playing both the piano and drums in his free time. Daryan also had an interest in vintage cars, purchasing his first 1988 Nissan 300zx recently. He excelled at learning new languages, was fluent in German and won the opportunity to attend a German Film Festival in San Francisco. Above all, he loved to travel, and always dreamed of exploring the world. Daryan will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

Daryan is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Ritterhoff. 

He is survived by his loving parents, Shervin Mostashfi and Kimberly Ritterhoff; grandparents, Rouzbeh and Helen Mostashfi, and Leslie and Dave Smith; aunts and uncles, Ali Mostashfi, Matt and Lisa Barnes; cousins, Riley and Reagan Barnes; girlfriend, Annie Mayberry; and numerous extended family and friends.  

The family will greet friends from 1-3pm, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429, with a memorial service to follow at 3pm. A livestream of the service will be available via Routsong’s YouTube channel.
