CLEVENGER, David Alan, 54, of Oakwood, died at Hospice of Dayton on October 13, 2006. A graduate of Oakwood High School and the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY, David served as a chef in a number of fine restaurants in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis, and for the last 19 years, was a culinary skills instructor at Dayton Correctional Institution. He was a member of a number of organizations and clubs, and supported good works in animal welfare. David was preceded in death by his parents Ella (Dupont) and Willard, and his grandparents. Visitation will be held at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering on Wednesday, October 18, 4-7 p.m.; interment at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum on Thursday, October 19, 10:00 a.m.; and his life will be celebrated in worship later Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m., at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd., Oakwood. David will be remembered for his generosity, great heart, sense of humor, and deep love for animals, especially his “kids”, Brandi and Alexander. No one will ever forget his trademark brittle and caramels. In lieu of flowers, David has requested that memorials be made to The Scratching Post (6958 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236) or The United Coalition for Animals (9889 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242). While cancer took his life, it was unable to rob him of his dignity and the great love of many friends. We will miss him daily.
