BROWN, Delatus E., M.D., of Oakwood, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002. He was born in Columbus, Ohio; graduated from North High School, Capital University and Ohio State Medical School. Dr. Brown served internships and residencies at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He served two years in the United States Army as a Captain in the Medical Corp. during WWII and was in general practice for two years in Beavertown. Dr. Brown received his ophthalmology training at the the University of Virginia and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He practiced ophthalmology in Dayton, Ohio from 1952 to 1980. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Montgomery County Medical Society, the Ohio State Medical Society and the Ohio Ophthalmology Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Elizabeth Brown of Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice L. Brown; sister, Onna Thornton of Silver Spring, Maryland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jonathan and Mary Ellen Busby of Canal Winchester, Ohio; six nieces; eight grandnieces; three grandnephews;and two great grandnephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM when the memorial service with Reverend Linda Niece officiating will begin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wyoming Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45410. Condolences may be sent to the family via the website at www.routsong.com.
