BREUER, Delmar Wallace DW, of Centerville, formerly of Kettering, Ohio passed away on October 13, 2017 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ethelene (Paschal) Breuer; parents, Oscar B. Breuer and Ida Mae (Johnson) Breuer; his sisters, Treal Arthur and June Verdi; and brothers, Noel, Eugene, Charles Oscar, William Johnson, and Buell Calvin Breuer. Surviving are daughters, Debbie Breuer and Teresa Lindemann; grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Alexandria (Ben) Busick, Jessica, and Jonathan (Kali); great-grandchildren, Joy Baker, Tyler Baker, Caleb Busick, Joshua Busick, Hannah Busick, and Camden Lindemann; and sister, Ida Rebul (Sydney) Kiely.
DW was born in rural St. James, Mo. on June, 21 1925. He attended grade school in a one-room school house, and graduated from St. James High School, earned a BS in Aeronautical Engineering at Iowa State, MS in Structures at the Missouri School of Mines, Ph.D in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at Ohio State, and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. His four brothers also served in the military. He met Ethelene while teaching at MSM. They married July 31, 1949. DWs first position following college was as Instructor of Engineering Mechanics at Missouri School of Mines. In 1950, he was hired by North American Aviation and relocated to Los Angeles. In 1951, he was hired by the Air Force Institute of Technology, where he worked for the next 30 years. DW became a Department Head in 1958. He retired as Professor Emeritius of Aerospace Engineering on Jan 1, 1981. DW enjoyed many activities including golf, ping-pong, bridge, fishing, and coaching a Ladies softball team. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1952, where he taught classes and served as chair and member of many committees. He was a tutor at Wesley Center and a mobile meals deliverer for many years. He also appreciated the special friendship of Jane Jancauskas.
Services celebrating the life of DW will be held at 6:30pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering with a visitation one hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers please donate to Christ United Methodist Church.
