Dennis James McKinnon

MCKINNON, Dennis James “Doc”, age 69, of Miamisburg, OH passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Dennis was born on January 13, 1955 to James Halstead McKinnon and Shirley Ann (Leyes) Wall in Dayton, OH. 

He graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1973 and went on to have various service manager positions at car dealerships. Dennis also owned and operated a Texaco Station and worked his dream job at Range USA. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting, fishing, throwing horseshoes, and bird watching. He was a proud and active member of the Greene County Fish and Game Club, the NRA, and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, as well as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James McKinnon; brother, Daniel McKinnon; and step-father, Harry Wall. Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary McKinnon; sons, James (Thomas Humbert) McKinnon, Daniel Harper, and Blake Harper; daughters, Kimberly McKinnon and Ashley (J.R.) Peck; mother, Shirley Wall; brother, Michael (Michele) McKinnon; sister, Janice Carpenter; and seven grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12pm on Wednesday Feb 28 at the Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr, Kettering, OH 45420. Family will greet friends from 11am-12pm at the church. Burial at David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or a local animal shelter of your choice.
