Gerstle, DeWitt F. 98, of Oakwood, passed on at Hospice of Dayton on April 7. He was born and raised in Cincinnati and is a graduate of UC. In the late 30’s he worked as a metallurgist for Wright Pat AFB. For 27 years he was with Delco Products, retiring in 1971. In retirement DeWitt did home repair work and was an active volunteer, working with Kettering Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital and Hospice of Dayton. For many years He rode his bike to Hospice to fill the bird feeders. In 1941 he married Ruth Alexander, having two sons, Joe (wife Anita) and Steve. Ruth and Steve are now deceased. De has four loving grandchildren: Matthew of the Boston area, Katharine Wilson (husband Travis) of Los Angels, Emily Gerstle of Spring Arbor, MI, and Abi Gerstle of Bristol Conn. Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church, 111 West Monument Ave. at 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 17. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. Arrangements by Routsong Funeral Home.
