BUTLER-HUGHES, Diane Marie, age 55, of Bellbrook, fought the good fight for 15 years and finished the race on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Diane was born on May 19, 1959 in Dayton, OH to Jerome and Barbara (nee Ohmer) Butler. She graduated from Alter High School in 1977 and from Wright State University with a degree in Communications.
Through all the trials of living with cancer and the life changes it presented, one thing that did not change was her desire to help others. Diane was a co-founder of The Noble Circle Project, a program that empowers women who have had a cancer diagnosis to transform their lives and thrive. Diane also advocated for several years through countless interviews, rallies, and television appearances to pass Ohio's Smoke-Free Workplace Act. Diane loved helping others and bettering the community through many activities including teaching at Bible Camp and CCD at St. Charles and belonging to Junior League of Dayton. Diane loved to travel and explore new places, and was blessed by a memorable pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Butler; uncle, Fred Ohmer and aunt, Virginia Gibbs-Pratt. Diane is survived by her husband, Dave Hughes; father, Jerome (Marge) Butler; mother-in-law, Carol Hughes; sisters, Pam (Don) Christ, Jan (Michael) Gigandet, Julie (Tim Burman) Maurer, and Karen (Michael) Pilkenton; brother, Mark (Kathy) Butler; nieces and nephews, Stephen, Alex, Raechel, Maggie, Mitchell, Molly, Katie, Natalie, Joel, Samm and Andrew and many other loving relatives and friends.
