Dixie Wightman

WIGHTMAN, Dixie (Dornbos), 70, of Beavercreek, passed away Friday August 4, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of the Ben Lomond High School class of 1965, Weber State University with her B.S., and Central Michigan University with her M.S in 1990. She retired from Federal Service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 2008 and was a contracting officer with the F-16, C-17, and Joint Helmet Program. She was a member of American woman Business Association and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where her favorite calling was being the Primary President. She knew every childs name and loved to watch them grow in their faith. She was a member of the Mid-Ohio Street Stangs (MOSS) where she won awards for her 2001 Mustang Cobra fondly named Wild Grandma. She enjoyed hosting parties at her home with family and friends. Dixie loved to shop, with Talbots being her favorite store. The sales staff would even call to check on her if weeks went by and she didnt stop in. Her greatest love was her family. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them. Dixie is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Mary Dornbos, and her son Gary James. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Timothy; Children Shaun (Bili), Marlies (Jeff), Jeff (Kristen), Matt (Kristy); Sister Diane Russell; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close friends Cindy Norbut, Dan and Joyce Schaffer, Bob and Chris Bryte and Dave and Sharon Mathias. Funeral service will be at 12pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering. Visitation begins 2 hours prior at funeral home. Burial at Mt. Zion Park. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, Dawn, Ursula and Rebecca for their wonderful and loving care of Dixie. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 31 W.
