Don Richard O'Connor, Jr.

O'CONNOR, Don Richard, age 82, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Don was born in Findlay, OH to the late Don Richard Sr. and Nellie Mae (Iler) O'Connor. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia (Ginny) O'Connor nee Bowman, one brother, Michael (Linda) O'Connor; 2 sisters, Shelia Lashley and Kathleen (Max) McDuffie; 2 children, John Michael and Julie Ann O'Connor; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Mathew, Joseph Maxwell, Jessy Leigh and John Kelly; 2 great-grandsons, Aidan and Bradley; and a host of nieces and nephews. Don attended Bowling Green State University and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He served with the U.S. Army and graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Don retired in 2000 from Wright-Patt AFB. He was a charter member of Oak Creek United Church of Christ / Harmony Creek Community Church. Family will greet friends from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH with the funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Burial at Woodland Cemetery followed by a reception for family and friends at Harmony Creek Church, 5280 Bigger Rd. Kettering. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Crossroads Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for all the wonderful care they gave Don. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harmony Creek Church in Don's memory.
