age 70 of Kettering, died Wednesday, August 29, 2001 at the Miami Valley Hospital. He attended Dayton City Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Rehobeth, a geological survey ship. Don began his career as owner of a service station in Kettering and then worked as a foreman for General Motors. He was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Kettering/Oakwood Exchange Club and a dedicated volunteer at the Miami Valley Hospital Care Unit for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Ditzel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carolyn. Devoted father and friend to 2 daughters, Krista (Jack) Miller of Spring Valley, OH and Kay (Greg) Castignola of Dublin, OH; a son, David (Jill) Ditzel of Lakeside Park, KY; and a loving and proud grandfather of 3 grandchildren, Dave Castignola and Reagan and Adam Ditzel. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, September 3, 2001 in the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville with Rev. Vicki Downing officiating. A reception to celebrate Don's life will be held immediately following the service in the funeral home. We want Don to be remembered for his love of people, animals, nature and flowers.
